Coffee around the World: Masala coffee

Infused spices in coffee is something we don’t tend to see a great deal of in the United Kingdom, but delve a little deeper than your regular coffee menu and you still probably won’t find the Indian delight that is Masala Coffee.

That’s not to say this is a bad drink, far from it, we just don’t tend to like to experiment with our favourites as much as the rest of the world – but now you can try this Indian spiced coffee mix for yourself.

And no, before you Google it, Masala coffee tastes almost nothing like Chicken Tikka Masala.

Drinking coffee reduces risk of death from all health causes

Drinking approximately three cups of coffee per day has been linked with a lower risk of death in two newly published scientific studies.

Welcome news to us coffee-lovers, the study has shown that the risk of death ‘from any cause’ is significantly reduced—at least by those featured within the study.

High coffee consumption—which is unfortunately not defined within the study—was shown to reduce the risk posed by diseases related to circulation and digestion.

Britons spend up to £2210 a YEAR in coffee shops

New research has found that the average Brit is now spending up to £2210 in our nation’s coffee shops – and this figure looks set to rise even further!

The spend reflects the coffee sector growth over the past decade, with chain stores and independents dotting the high streets of towns and cities all over the United Kingdom.

Over 1,036 members of the British public were asked about their coffee consuming habits by Research Without Borders (RWB), who carry out online market research and academic research studies.

Coffee around the World: A brief history of Indian coffee

India might be known more for producing some of the world’s finest teas, but the country has a long and rich history of growing stellar coffee beans too.

The Coffee Belt, which wraps around the globe between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, is where all of the world’s coffee is grown – and with India slap bang in the middle of this prosperous coffee growing heatmap.

India therefore, was one of the earliest producers of coffee, with coffee trees basically a backyard crop as early as the 17th century.
